Writer Mikael Wulff and cartoon artist Anders Morgenthaler, the imaginative pair often known as Wumo, developed an awesome compilation of charts that describe examples of the fundamental painful truths of day to day life in the Western world.

Wulff and Morgenthaler publish these graphics on Wumo (formerly known as Wulffmorgenthaler). Their latest feat was ending up as a frequent comic strip in the New York Times.

Which one of their chart and images connect with you? Tell us in the comments area!

Original

Pablo Neruda

Translation

The vague fog flows from the sea towards the street
like the stream-breath of cattle buried in the cold,
and long sheet of rain gather, covering the month
that our lives had been promised would be heavenly.

Premature autumn, whistling honeycomb of leaves
when your standards palpitate over our towns
lose women sing goodbye to the rivers,
horses whinny towards Patagonia.

On your face is an evening vine,
growing silently, lifted by love
up towards the crackling horseshoe of the sky.

I lean toward the fire of your nocturnal body, and I love
not only your breasts but autumn, too. as it spreads
its ultramarine blood through the fog.

Pablo Neruda

Today is my birthday and while I do appreciate all the birthday cupcakes, birthday ecards, and birthday quotes on Facebook, I can’t help but to share this post on my blog.

Let me start by saying that I do not believe in birthdays. Since I was a young kid I found that something was not right about the concept of a birthday, I remember always thinking that I already had a birthday and that, that day did not exist anymore.

So you are having a bad day and you do not need any more stress added to your life, you start to browse the web as a mean to relax a bit ... and just like that MORE stress, and just in case you didn't realize, the stress comes accompanied by an icon to make sure you know more stress just hit you.

(SCIENTIFIC FACTS, NOT UNFOUNDED STORIES)
Mitochondrial DNA (coming from the female side) in modern humans points to genes that are tracked back to a single female ancestor who lived about 140,000 years ago, but genes on the Y chromosome (coming from the male) trace back to one male who lived about 60,000-90,000 years ago. Further, the bulk of genes in the nucleus all trace back to different times—as far back as two million years.
